acer iconia a500 wifi based question/problem

Not sure (hope it is) right forurm...

My acer iconia is sick.

Symptons:
Wifi works fine Except:

1) android marketplace no longer shows it has a connection
2) G-talk no longer shows a connection
3) I can't seem to verify my gmail is updating ok on my tablet.

I CAN surf ok (on both my home wifi, as well as at other (open AND locked SSID's),
and I can get online both through firefox as well as built-in browser.

I googled a few things, and only things I saw were:
a) make sure the udp port is open (it WAS working before on my machine.)
b) make sure date is set correctly..


Now for the fishy part.

I did try and install the beta version of pdanet for tablet.

and I have since uninstalled it too..

but I can't verify that the problem started around that time...

g-talk DID use to work, as did the marketplace. (as well as amazon app marketplace.)

Ideas?? solutions???

I am loathe to reboot and or re-wipe the system to scratch if I can avoid it...
