acer iconia a500 wont update from 3.0.1

hi all

1stly,thanks in advance. i have just purchased an acer iconia a500. its currently on android 3.0.1 and i cant seem to take it forward. any thoughts?

Check this thread: How can i get ICS? as it is pretty much the same thing. I think you need the Acer app (listed in post 5).

thanks. howeve, i get the error message this app is not compatible with your acer a500?

Since I have not handled an A500, I would say a call to Acer may be in order to find out why you cannot install that app. It says Android 3.0 and higher is required.

Are you sure it's the A500, or possibly the A501? The latter is the model that can access 3G mobile networks if you get it from a wireless company, but is also available elsewhere, like on Amazon. I know that the A501 is NOT being updated to Ice Cream Sandwich, but it still should have been updated to Android 3.2.

Hi Bdiddy, thanks for your response. It is definitely the A500.
Looking at other forums, it has been suggested that the support upgrade from 3.0.1 isnt there anymore as it's assumed all tabs would be updated by now This would also be why the ICONIA TAb enhancement won't install
I may have to go down the route of installing ACER 3.2 ROM
