Android 4 Tablet - Too many pattern attempts

My daughter has recently bought android 4 7" tablet and has locked it. "Too many pattern attempts" She cannot remember user name or password!! Is there anything we can do? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Factory reset through the tablet's recovery menu is the only way to restore the tablet, if she cannot remember her username or password.
