Asus Zenpad 10 Home Screen

Hello. Just received the tablet and am completely new to android. I have two boxes on the left side of the home screen that I would like to close or delete. One is widgets and the other is notes I think. Any help in eliminating these boxes would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Press and hold each box. You should have an option to drag them to a trash can icon or bar that says "Remove".

If they for some reason cannot be removed, install Nova Launcher from the Play Store, and when prompted to select a default launcher, choose Nova Launcher.
