Best tablet for use with thumb drive

I have a couple of tablets but none of them support external hardware. My father is looking for a tablet, but he lives on his thumb drive. He will mainly need to access and edit office files (Word & Excel mostly) from the tablet on his thumb drive. I know I he will need Documents To Go, but will any Android tablet that has a USB port work? I am leaning towards the Transformer mainly for the keyboard for him, but I am open to suggestions.

Anyone? I rather not get into Drop Box or other apps. I am trying to make this as easy for him as possible.

Both of my Witstech devices work great with a USB memory stick.
