Black Area and Lines on Part of Screen

Hello,

My grandson just brought his tablet over and he has black color and lines on part of the screen. He can still play his games but the black and lines are still there no matter where he goes in his apps. I believe it is a 7 inch android mid tablet but I am not sure what brand as his mother says it was a gift. I was just wondering through the posts and see no answers as of yet to this problem. I am not sure what a cold boot is but found that as a suggestion on other posts, but no advice on how to do that. Any help would be great. Thanks.

From your description it sounds like a probable hardware issue. The only way to be 100% certain would be to do a factory reset. (note that the data would need to be backed up somewhere else first).
