Can someone help me? My new Epad has no service how do I get service?

I have the Epad Android 2.2 180 and it was brought from China, I am in New Zealand, I can get internet connection from my home wirless and can go on the intrenet so that is all fine but it say I have no service so therefore cannot use some of the apps. Can anyone help and tell me how to connect the service? That would be great thankyou!
