Can you help me root my NOOK?

I have a 1st edition NOOK with serial #s 1004, can you help me root it? i looked on NOOkdevs but I couldnt understand the instructions for a nook with a serial # like mine, thanks in advance!

Hi Julian,

Does this mean you have the orginal Nook with the e-ink display? Most of the instructions here are for the Nook Color.

It sounds like you have the undesirable serial number to root. It is possible but the method is not beginner easy. I don't know your needs but if you are looking for an Android tablet stick with the Nook Color which is still fairly inexpensive and easy to root or use a bootable SD card with. Alternatively, the new Nook touch is also a viable option and fairly inexpensive.

If you do stick with the original Nook you can expect a steep learning curve and little support in rooting.

You can't root an original Nook. Rooting is for Android based devices like the Nook Color only.
