Cannot Make Folder On Home Screen

I have an ASUS zenpad 10 running nougat. I have tried a bunch of times to make a folder on home screen but when i long hold an app and go to put it with another to make folder the one I do not have a hold on zooms away to a free space or where i took the first app from. I did find smart group on the tablet in which it grouped together like apps and put them in folders on home screen. Games, productivity, tools, etc. And that works ok. But i want to make another games folder for the other games I have that didn't fit in the folder that smart group made. I have chased apps all over the home screen till I'm tired!! Lol what can i do??

Use a different launcher, as the stock launcher - which I assume Asus is using - doesn't support the creation of folders. Nova Launcher is a good choice.
