Can't open Amazon Appstore app on VL-109, just get a search screen, help!

I am a new owner of a Visual Land 109. I have bought some apps from Amazon and was instructed by them to open the Appstore app on the tablet an download them for them to take effect. But when I tap the Amazon appstore app, all I get is a black screen with a search bar at the top. If I type anything there it promptly disappears when I hit enter, leaving me with the search bar blank. My son who is studying computers has tried to figure this out with no success. Could somebody here advise me as to what is going on, and what I should do? Thanks in advance.

First thing to try is going to settings > apps > all and find the app store app. Tap it and tell it to clear the cache/data, force stop then restart the tablet. If that doesn't work, (I think it will), uninstall it and restart then install it again.

I had to uninstall the app, then reinstall and restart the tablet, but now it works! Thank you very much!
