Changing the look(shell?) of 2.3?

Hi, I'm buying my first android tablet next week (Already have an Android phone so know the system fairly well), it's a Prestigio Multipad PMP5080B. From what I've seen of it (videos on youtube and such) the interface it uses out of the box is pretty ugly, horrible crests for icons and such. What I want to know is there an easy way to change this (without flashing the device with a custom rom, which I'm not sure if I want to do yet or not). I've seen the word Shell bandied about a bit to describe the interface, but I'm not sure if that's what I'm looking to get changed or not... Personally I'd love to have the look of Honeycomb (the black bar down the bottom) but don't mind the functionality overall being ye olde 2.3.

Without removing the manufacturers firmware.
