Clock Work Mod - CWM - ??? What is it

I have seen a couple of guys on here refer to CWM installed on their rooted tablets- I am kind of confused as to what this is and what benefits I will gain on my already rooted tablet?

Is this a power supply mod? Like the baygen radio things. That would be fantastic. I would love something like that.

No- this is more of a software boot loader- or boot manager as best I can tell - but it is not hardware-
