Coby 7042 Password locked. Help!

Hi all bought the G/F's Grand-kids A coby 7042 for their Christmas! Set it up for them! everything working fine sent it off, one of them before they had even had a chance to play with it put a password in and then promptly forgot the password
Tried holding the power and silver buttons for 8 seconds also tried the reset button the back of the unit! nothing still goes back to the Start screen asking for a password

Enter the tablet's Android System Recovery menu and do a factory reset. All data will be lost, but you'll get into the tablet.

And how would i do that first thing that comes up is a password window or shut down!

Hold down volume - and the back button while pressing and holding down the power button. If that doesn't work try the other volume button.
