It looks like Coby Germany may have dropped support for the ICS 4.0.3 update for the older (7022, 7127, 8127, 8128, 1125, 1125WAN, 1126) models. Whether this is temporary or permanent is not known. If you check the link: Consumer Entertainment Products for Home, Office or On the Go! | COBY you will get the message "Due to technical reasons this page is not available."

Not exactly sure what is going on, but both the US and German websites have changed recently.

The German site now only lists the older tablets listed bove but without the ICS upgrade link. The German website does not yet list newer ICS 4.0.x models although these are seen in images elsewhere on the site. I would expect to see the newer models listed in the near future

The US site also dropped many the older models (leaving only 7022, 7127, 8127, 1125 and 1126) and shows all the newer (7033, 7055, 8042, 9042, 9742, 1042 and 1045) tablet models. Coby's support seems to be shifting...

If I hit it via a German proxy I can still see the update so they must be trying to keep it in Germany only... I read something about them not getting the new Kyros tablets there so upgrading their old stuff to ICS was seen as a solution.

Thanks. How do you use a proxy under Android ?

Coby is making a mistake by restricting the upgrades, as the Android 4.0.3 upgrade will generate more interest in their products. The narrow minded marketing and sales types will tell you upgrades willtake away from new sales. However, if the upgrades go well it will generate new interest in products from existing an new users.

In my case, in the absence of the Android 4.0.3 upgrade for the MID1126 I was ready to dump the 8125 and 1126 and move on to another brand for a cheap on the go tablet. (The Acer A500 is my primary tablet.)

However the upgrade of the 1126 makes this tablet very useful for both myself and my wife. This resulted in my picking up a 8042 as a replacement for the (not upgradable) 8125 rather than another brand.

Someone should point out this phenomenon to Coby.
