confused

Hi all,
Getting totally fustrated with this tablet.
After reseting it and wiping its memory ( see older post - deleted memory? )
Its telling me that sd card not mounted or present? so dont have any memory to download anything apps of likewise.

I have never had a sd card for this device, nor to my knowledge has there been. Its only three weeks old and is supposed to have 16 gb internal memory.

Any ideas, or have i just bought a very expensive table mat !!!
