Contact app on nook

Hi. It seems that the contact app on the nook is not very functional even after linking it to gmail. I can't see to compose an eml and have my contacts show up there like on ky android phone.

Is there any app that specifically acts like the contact app on a regular droid phone? Please advise if there is a way to haveaccess to gmail contacts.

Price is steep and not sure how it will behave on nook but comic reader mobi beats everything so far everything I've tried.
