Do we even know if the headphone jack will accept input signals (a mic)?
Jacks that are on phones are wired to accept input and output, but it is entirely possible that B&N never intended that jack to do anything other than send audio out.
Has anyone here actually used it as a mic jack, or is it all 'i read it somewhere'...not slighting Carbira, as I have read it would work too (probably the same place) but I haven't actually spoke with someone that has used it themselves.

See, this seems WAY more likely...its just like the speaker jack on the back of your PC.
On a side note: My Altec Lansing 2.1 system on my PC has an Aux In jack on the back of the sub...and works AWESOME for my NC audio while sitting here at my desk.
