Yes, it certainly be repaired. A lot will depend on how much you paid for it, is it resistive or capacitive, etc. i know that here in Minneapolis I just replaced the screen on one of my daughter's iTouch for $65, I would expect you will be looking at at least that much in Chicago. I found my repair person via craigslist, but it really is no different that any other touch device like a cell phone, so find a place that repairs those to start.
