cruz won't start up

i got a cruz 7'' for christmas this morning. the first time i tried it out, it gave an error everytime i tried to turn the wifi on, so i turned it off and turned it on a couple of times. now it won't turn on past the black screen that says "cruz" on it. i've tried pushing the reset button by itself, holding the reset button with the power button. can i hook it up to my lap top, or anything else i can try to get it to turn on and work, or should i just wait till tommorrow and return it for another when the stores are opened back up. oh yeah, i'm not to horribly computer savvy these days either.

well, finally after a couple of hours and about 10 trys got it to update and finally got it started. i'm still getting an error whenever i try to turn on the wifi. thinking i'm just going to take it back and exchange it tommorrow unless anyone has an idea on what to try next.
