Custom Notification tone?

Hey Everyone,
I Purchased a Asus Transformer @ Best Buy on Black Friday and I'm a huge fan ever since!.
One thing I seem to have a hard time figuring out is how to set a custom notification tone?
I have tried moving an mp3 to the sound folder in the system folders but the tone does not appear when I try to set the notification tone.
Is it suppose to be in some other type of format for it to work?

Check out this app, it is pretty easy to use and automatically finds any mp3's on your device. Select, edit and then set as a Notification. Next, go to your settings and it will be there.
