do CWM or otherrecovery methods work interchangably on all RK2918 based devices?

hello,I have a CRAIG CMP741D and I need to find a recovery method that works on it. I want to make full backups of the as-is state it is in and be able to restore them anytime so that it goes back to the previous state. I found only one method to install CWM here http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...741d-cwm-install-instructions.html#post301540 but so far with this way the restored backups always end up with boot locked on ICS logo. can anyone help? thanks

Im still not able to find out how to get a fully functional CWM on the CMP741D with ICS but I was able to get a fully functional CWM by using this tutorial for installing JellyBean: http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/craig-tablets/53810-tutorial-cmp741d-jellybean-install.html it is a modified OS but the recovery function is my main concern right now. next is finding more info about the RKandroidTool.exe and how to swap system images with it.
