Driver for Modem

I have Andriod based IPAD M003, with the following specification:
Andriod Version 1.6
Kernal Version 2.6.29
WMT SDK Version 1.7.4

Right now, it only supports Huawei E220 modem.
Can I use modem other than this?

I am also looking for 3g modem drivers havent had any luck so far. have you been able to get it working or is there anybody else who is able to assist?
