first time tablet buyer, anti virus !

hi there, this is my first time on here and I am looking at my new tablet and wondering where to start, but the most important question firstly is - do I need to download anti-virus software ? and if I do is there one that people recommend for their tablets ?
any help is gratefully received

If you feel you need one, there are several free anti-malware apps available on the markets. I'm using Lookout on mine with no apparent performance issues. Another popular one is AVG Antivirus Free.
