Galaxy Tab OTG Connector for Reading SD Cards

I have the 10.1 Model GT-5113. Got in a OTG connector that is suppose to allow me to transfer pictures from my camera SD card to my tablet. Problem is I can not get it to work. Checked out Google and found a couple of YouTube instructions. They mention a certain file manager ( I think) , but with bad hearing, and their fast talking, I could not make out what they were saying.
We are getting ready to go on a trip in a couple of weeks and sure would like to use it to send pictures home.

The ES file explorer is the one I installed. Maybe I am doing something wrong in my procedure's. Which file should I be looking at after I hook up the adapter with the SD card inserted.
