Hello all,

After I found out that Gentouch 78 shares the same hardware with Surf Smart Book , on sale in Germany
(http://smartbook.de/Content/produktseiten/details.aspx?produkt=22fd4c3f-d5a2-4288-8fca-66679455bc63);

I decided to browse their Support / Download page to see what updates they may have.

I found one dated 24 AUG 2010 and I installed on my Gentoch.

I did not found anything out of ordinary.

I forgot to mention that I’m a beginner, and all of what I was looking for was a way to connect and USB Flash Drive to my Gentouch 78.

I didn’t find it, and I continue to browse the device and I found some interesting options for and HDMI support.

If I remember correctly few fellow colleagues from this forums discussed about an option of soldering and HDMI plug in to the device and maybe we will be able somehow to find the drivers.
I’m not sure if
my discovery has some importance but I decided to share it with you.

I used Google translate to get some info from German web page, and I noticed that USB FLASH/ HDD support is possible ( in the future ), also support for 32 Gb Micro SD.

Another interesting fact, their device has 2 USB Plugs.

I’m looking for the photos of Gentough motherboard to see why, and if maybe on Augen provided intentionally only one USB plug.

I will try to upload some screen shots.

Thank you!

And I appreciate your comments.

Now if we unpack the .IMG files, we could do some exploring to see what the dealio is.

Certainly the crux of it all will lie within the kernel, no doubt. Has anyone contacted Smartbook to see if they release the source to their kernel yet ???
