Google is blocking Android Market movie rentals on rooted devices because of copy protection -- Engadget
Not much of a concern right now unless you own a Xoom tablet. But it will be rolled out soon for Android 2.2 and higher devices - but apparently due to copy protection on the movies ONLY for unrooted devices.

That's a no brainer. Superuser privileges win. I'm sure when a work-around is found you'll need to be root anyway. If not, I'll find my movies elsewhere, thank you.
