As we near the end of 2014, Google Play looks back at the year gone by in mobile apps, games and entertainment content, using data from its downloads and sales from 2014.
The most downloaded apps for the year include language learning app-game crossover Duolingo, Web radio favoritePandora, calorie counter tool MyFitnessPal and Facebook’s and Netflix’s mobile apps. Unsurprisingly, Candy Crush Saga was the most downloaded game of the year.
Disney’s Frozen – both the movie and the original sountrack– were the biggest hits of the year in film and music. The late great actor Robin Williams who passed away this August, was sorely missed, as search query counts reveal.
Readers favored John Green’s ‘The Fault in Our Stars‘ over EL James’ ‘Fifty Shades of Grey‘, and flipped through The New York Times more than any other news publication via Google Play’s Newsstand.
