It looks like Google is listening to the community about pushing a standardized design practice for the look and feel of the Android OS. They just launched a new website dedicated to solidifying aesthetic design standards for Android. It's called, simply enough, Android Design, and doesn't force anyone to adhere to a specific look, *cough* Apple *cough*, but it does create a recommended guidelines that will help budding developers differentiate their apps on the Android OS from looking like rehashed iOS apps. It's basically just a site full of utilities, hints and suggestions to help developers follow a pattern that helps Android OS look more like they fit in with the new Ice Cream Sandwich design elements.

It's nice to see Google working toward a cohesive vision that is still open to creativity. Check out the site and share your thoughts in the thread.

Even just icon styles bug the crap outta me sometimes. You can tell a lot about an apps iOS history just by looking at the icon.
