Hey,

I have just taken the plunge on buying a rip-off ipad from ebay after browsing the forums here and over at slatedroid.

From what I could make out, there is a number of 10 inch slates which are coming out now which are all basically the same, using the zenithink board. So I guessed that the 10.2" device that I bought would basically be a zenithink. However the ebay seller says this is essentially a large rockchip. But I can't find any info about a 10.2" rockchip tablet, just 7" models...

Here are the specs provided by the seller:

10.2" Rockchip Android Tablet Apad 1GHZ DUAL CORE PROCESSOR!!

CPU: RK2808 1GHZ Dual-Core - FASTEST PROCESSOR!!
Google Android OS 1.5
256MB DDR2 800mhz
Display: 10.2” 16:9 widescreen 800X480 high-brightness TFT LCD
Full Touchscreen, Sliding Menu, icons and drag function.
Built-in Storage: 2GB Flash
External Storage: SD-Card Slot Supports upto 16 GB (Memory card not included)
Motion Sensor, Accelerometer
WIFI WLAN: 802.11b/g Wi-Fi certified Network connection
Audio Format: MP3, WMA. FLAC, AAC, AC3, OGG, WAV
Video Format: MKV (H.264 HP) / RMVB / MPEG-4 / FLV / MPEG-1 / MPEG-2 up to 720P
Stereo Speaker
3.5mm Earphone Jack
Picture Format: JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP
Software Applications: E-Mail, Web Browser, Google Chrome-lite Browser,
Calender, Contacts, i-Reader, Fringe
Games, Scratch Paper, Desktop Gadgets, Clock, Wallpaper, Google Maps,
More apps can be downloaded from GOOGLE ANDROID MARKETPLACE APPS!

So what does everyone think? Is this essentialy a super sized 7" rockchip apad, are the specs the same as a 7"? Or will this be an improvement over the 7" apad's?

What are the chances I will be able to upgrade this to android 2.2?

I should add that the device apparently arrives tomorrow

I have bought one too same buyer perhaps...

Got it now and seems to run okish but slow when low on battery and nightmare to charge up!

apart from that nice piece of kit, be interesting if can upgrade it to 2.1??

Also would love to connect a usb device up to it but got it working via wireless a treat.

Cheers

You wont be able to upgrade the RK2808a based tablet to newer versions of Android.

Rogerbraun has a custom firmware for it that you might want to try.
