How do You down load fils into the Android

I have only had my MID X6 today and have got it on line ( Wi-Fi)
How do you transfer files e.g. photos e-books etc. from the PC to the tablet AND fron the USB stick to the tablet

I have searched for hours but can not find out how to do it.
When I connected the usb cable ( supplied) to the tablet it did say there were some errors - - not all the connections were checked .. but no help as to what I should do
