How to adjust the brightness of the Kindle screen for reading

I have noticed that the brightness of the Kindle app is not so bright. How can you adjust the brightness? I have adjusted the tablet screen brightness and toggled on and off the auto brightness feature with no change in the Kindle screen brightness. I am using a Galaxy 2 10.1 tablet. Any assistance, greatly appreciated.

I just read this solution on another thread. While reading kindle app, tap on the center of the screen. it will bring up the font size icon (upper right of the display). Tap on this icon and the settle for the display brightness will be there. So counter-intuitive!!!
