How to set up voice recognition on android tablet

Hi, I'm trying to get language translators on my new tablet using voice rather than text.

After I've installed the apps it tell me the tablet doesn't have voice recognition or you have no voice recognition app.

One told me to install voice search which I did, but it still tells me I have no app to recognise speech.

Please help.

PS I'm a newbie so please keep it as simple as you can.
