Iconia A500 forces XT9?

When I first got this A500, I had the choice of using XT9 keyboard or going with a regular keyboard in which I had to explicitly type in every word. Excellent.

Now, I have no choice. XT9 is it.

Great for texters, but I am old and techy, and frequently type words that XT9 doesn't like. It corrects me, incorrectly.

Can I get my old stupid keyboard back, or must I break out the laptop again?
