iTunes Question

Hi
I hope someone can help me. I have an android tablet which was a christmas present. Is there anyway I can transfer my itunes music library from my laptop to my android. I have tried this with a usb, although the files had transferred over, I am unable to open them!! I am a complete novice so I need all the help I can get. Hope someone can assist.

If these were downloaded from Itune wouldn't you need a Itune app? I have tons of MP3s on my tablet. But I never purchased songs from Apple
