Looking for a basic tablet

Hi Folks,
I'm new here. It's my first post so please excuse me if I said anything stupid. What I'm looking for advice on is a basic tablet which is reliable and not expensive. I'll use it only for browsing internet and reading ebooks. It will be great if I can upgrade the OS later on. Any recommendations? Will Pandigital Novel be a good candidate?
