need help tablet wont load

hi all im a newbie i have just got a mid tablet off a well known web site for a friend i have tried it out once and it worked ok ,just went to turn it on and it wont load now ....it comes up with a big andriod and then the little andorid and thats as far as it goes... it is on charge at the momment .....hellp mme please as this is for a friend thanks ...
