A new 7-inch Android tablet from the manufacturer Philips is in development. The tablet will likely be launched in China and it will use a MIPS based CPU architecture instead of the typical designs normally seen from companies like Quallcomm, NVIDIA and Samsung. The tablet was displayed at the Linley Tech Mobile Conference just yesterday, and will compete in the now growing budget-friendly market of tablets. Another inexpensive Android tablet is based on this same architecture: the Ainol NOVO Basic 7MIPS.
Unfortunately, the MIPS chip is the only spec we have of the tablet at this time, but we will keep you posted as we find out more.
