New to Tablets

I've used computers for some years but don't have a smartphone and haven't used a tablet. I've just bought my wife an Ainol Novo 7 Paladin with V4.0. It came with Chinese instructions and a lot of Chinese programs so that was a problem. I'm slowly getting there but would appreciate some advice.
Does anyone know where I can get English instructions for this model?
I would like to download an anti-virus program and an EBook reader app. I tried AVG Free and also Aldiko Reader. Both said they were not suitable for this model.
Can anyone advise any suitable programs, preferably free, that might suit my model?
