No Sound from Speakers

I'm renting a acer a500, it was used when i got it. there is no sound coming from the speakers its been like that since the day i got it, the rent store does not have anymore in stalk and all they will do is send it off to acer to see if theres anymore problems, the speakers did not work even before i updated to ICS, i did a factory reset and a pin hole reset and downloaded audio maneger and nothing has worked, my headphones work though..

does anyone know of anything that could help?

It could be a hardware issue or the tablet could "think" that a headset is plugged in. If it is not a hardware issue, then a Google Play app named SoundAbout should fix it.
