If the built-in Android download system isn't enough to appease your power-user frame of mind, Jack Wallen has a simple solution in Advanced Download Manager.

Out of the box, the Android download system is fairly basic. With it, you can check the progress of your download and, when said download is complete, tap to open the file. That's it. But what if you want more? What if you want the ability to pause, resume, check download speeds, plus manage multiple downloads and large file downloads?
Fortunately, someone thought of all that and created the Advanced Download Manager (ADM). This particular app offers everything you'll need for power downloading in Android (and more). ADM is, without a doubt, the single best download manager you'll find for Android. Here are just a few of things you can do:
Installation
Installation is very simple. Follow these steps:
Using ADM is quite simple. Upon installation, the service will start and display an icon in the notification window. Drag the notification window down and then tap the ADM entry. This will open the ADM window (Figure A) where you can tap the + button to enter a download URL.

In the URL editor (Figure B), you can either enter a single URL by entering (or pasting) it in the Link section, and then tap START.

You can also configure the download by tapping the gear icon, which will reveal plenty of options for this download (Figure C).

ADM has all the download options you'll ever need.
If you want to be able to enter more than one download at a time, just add them manually to the queue (enter the download link, give the download a name, and tap ADD). Once you've added all the necessary downloads, go the QUEUE tab, and then tap the download to begin (Figure D).

To change the location of downloads, do this:

- Search for Advanced Download Manager
- Locate and tap the entry by DimonVideo Tools
- Tap Install
- Read the permissions listing
- If the permissions listing is acceptable, tap accept
- Allow the installation to complete

- From the ADM main window, tap the overflow button (three horizontal lines)
- Tap the Settings gear icon
- Tap Downloading
- Tap Folder for files
- Tap the folder icon
- Select the folder to be used for downloads
- Tap OK
Give Advanced Download Manager a try and see if it doesn't completely change the way you work with downloads on your mobile device of choice.
