Problems Transferring Polaris File to PC Word

I have the Samsung Note 10.1 with Polaris office. I have no trouble transfering files between my PC and tablet. However, once on my PC the lines break up in the middle of a word.

For example, the end of the li
ne would read like this. The P
C no longer recognizes the be
ginning and end to words.

Please help, thanks in advance!!

Welcome to the forum

I'm going to suggest that with the history of some versions of Polaris that you switch to something like Kingsoft Office, (unless you purchased Polaris).. In short, I'm clueless.

The version of Polaris that comes with my tablet is great at some things and I like the interface but I refuse to use it due to some bugs.

also, any tips on making the documents print from my PC and not appear as though they are in landscape view would be helpful as well!

I have seen that before but if you are using M$ Office you should be able to change the orientation then save it. You may also try text reflow.

Sadly, Kingsoft does exactly the same thing. I normally use Office Suite and, so far, have considered it to be the best Word Processor for Android. However, two weeks ago it suddenly started to malfunction. When I clicked on the text to bring up my Swype keyboard it would take 75 seconds for the board to appear. Then it would take 15-25 seconds for anything to happen. As for trying to use Swype to write, well you could forget about that. I have a Samsung Note 8 (only two months old, but everything had been functioning fine), and a Samsung S3. The same problem was on both. Office Suite support was a bit slow in getting back to me. I thought it might be an update problem as there had been one just before the problem emerged. I'd tried all the usual uninstall/reinstall routines that they suggested. I asked for the previous version, which they sent me, but it didn't work. They suggested I factory reset the Note 8 and install the latest Office Suite first. Didn't work. I strangled an even earlier version out of them. Still no dice. At this stage they threw up their hands and said that no-one else was having this problem. Sorry about this long story, but it's context for the fact that I write EVERY day and really need my word processor to work. I LOVE the Note 8 and its wonderful stylus. It's changed my writing life. So I tried first Polaris (bundled with the Note) and then Kingsoft. Both have their problems, though neither have the freeze problem that Office Suite has. It took me some time to find out how to get around Polaris. Kingsoft was easier, but this problem of cutting words in pieces is infuriating. Overall, I think Office Suite is the best. It has so many more functions built in. BUT, but.... By ideas on how to prevent the freeze would be gratefully received.

Welcome to the forum

It sounds like you may have multiple issues, none of which should be happening. Palm rehection is a possibility for the cutting of words. But with all the other things going in you nay have lots of things happening in the background that are slowing your Note.

Considering the keyboard delay I would suggest you have 2 options, first try a different keyboard. If that doesn't help you may want to consider a factory reset.

I have exactly the same proble

What app are you using for creating those documents and what did you use to write this post?

One thought here. Take the document created in Polaris and open it in your word processing program on your computer. Turn on the formatting symbols and look at the end of each line. If you see an arrow at the end of each line, then the app on the device is inserting manual line breaks when you hit the end of the line.

In Word, this page explains how to replace a hard return with a manual line break, but you can use the same advice to replace the manual line break with a space, or nothing at all.

The real solution is one of these.
  1. Replace your word processing app with OfficeSuite Professional. I know at least one poster here mentioned having problems with it, but I never have, and I'm still running it on a Gingerbread device. I've tried other word processing apps such as QuickOffice (prior to Google buying it) but their interfaces weren't close to the Microsoft Office standard.
  2. Use Google Drive apps for your editing, now that QuickOffice is soon to be dead and buried.
  3. Replace the word processing app with a text editor, and do all the formatting (font, style, etc.) in the word processing program on the computer.
