Proper method of backing up the vtab?

Can someone please point me in the direction of a procedure to back up and restore to the vtab please. I want to get my custom settings and downloaded apps off to a safe place so if I chose to do a factory reset I could restore my settings, ie mail account info, etc.

There are plenty of backup apps.
Most of them require root.
One that does not is App Backup and Restore.

Thanks, I'll look at it. Did you use the drop box functionality? I did not buy a SD card for mine yet so I assume that is the way to go.
