[ROM - 1.2] Flashback - Honeycomb - Alpha 7.2 (8/11/11) [G-TABLET\ZPAD T2] Gtab Honeycomb 3.0 port
Ref: http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/20159-rom-12-flashback-honeycomb-alpha-72-81111-g-tabletzpad-t2/

Pre-requisites
1. Setup and learn how to use nvflash. This is your backout in case something bad happens, so I would recommend you understand how to use this, in advance.
2. Have your device on a stock 1.2-based ROM / mod baseline. For example, build 4349 is the latest 1.2-based stock ROM, as of this writing.

Installation for 1.2-based stock
Three options for installing Flashback

Option 1 (May have instability)
- Copy the zip file to the root of your internal memory.
- Reboot into recovery. Select install from sdcard.
- Wipe data if after first boot you experience instability or non functioning features that work for others. (this still may not fix your issues)

Option 2 (Preferred method and most stable option) https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1_vV0gFlIsikCO6ai8LhHhnuVNEYomQIwKLPYl9GMAbM

Option 3 (nvflash)
- if either option above did not work your tab may still have the factory default partition size or data not being fully removed.
- use http://www.mediafire.com/file/cnhve8krrh0u469/nvflash4349rev4.zip if option 1 or 2 did not work. (Detailed Instructions included in download.)

Installing Flash (you can upgrade to flash from the Market and use Opera for flash in web and go back to this hacked flash anytime to use Flash apps)
- Go to settings then Applications and select unknown sources
- In File Manager HD navigate to /system/data and install AdobeFlashplayer-hacked.apk
- Will need to repeat these steps after a data wipe!

Features
- YouTube App (All videos play fullscreen)
- External SDcard access
- PC Mounting
- Overclocking
- Flash Browsing (using opera)
- Flash Apps
- Web rendering apps
- adhoc support

Oh Dave, I was a little TOO adventurous...I embarrassed myself badly yesterday on slatedroid. Shame on me... But I like to say (and then prove) that the easiest way to humility is to humiliate oneself! :)

In any case, I saw at slatedroid that Flashback is not cooperating for you. Once you've cleaned the table off (or do I mean tablet?) with nvflash, I'm sure it'll install fine! I ran it for a bit (really liked the ADW launcher with resizable widgets!) but since video playback was "meh" I decided to go back to BoS. The cool thing about that is I had created a CWM backup before trying Flashback, and the restore to BoS was fast and perfect. How nice.

Upper 80's here in the lower midwest, but it's the humidity that'll get you.

So you had a taste of the new rom ! The way that the developer explained himself, I think that he will go far with his baby, if the conditions are right for him. I just wish him the very best of lucks.

I agree with you that nvflashing before attempting this rom may well be the requirement for now. In the long run, all rom's should be able to switched simply by flashing if they are on the same bootloader. Not only that it is convenient, but mishaps can be avoided for many users. Perhaps the developer will arrive with a solution soon.

CWM back-up is a great tool. I was able to return to the beloved Beasty within minutes and the tablet is now eating dust again as a night stand clock. Until then, LOL.

Take care of yourself and best of lucks.

Dave,

Running this one now....was a little flakey at first..but it is really stable now. Plus....and this is a big plus....EAP works!!!

After a nice weekend of basically just checking things here but not doing too much techie (it was Father's day weekend after all), I am getting ready to flash over to Flashback now...nice to see others trying it too!

Glad that you had it installed, and I am jealous, LOL. My first attempt did not go so well. Bu will definitely try again sometimes. Got a good feeling about this rom, and its developer.

And

was a little flakey at first = ? ? ?
EAP = ? ? ?

Dave,

Flakey = Lockups, stuck on the Nvidia logo boot screen, took awhile for wireless to settle down.....
EAP = This is a network protocal - (Extensible Authentication Protocol) We use PEAP at work (Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol) We use our domain creds to authenicate and gain access to our network via wireless.

So got Flashback installed and configured, and wow, I am really impressed. I have USB Connectivity and PEAP authentication, great speed

Last week, the installation of Flashback 3.0 did not go well (original post). This time around the installation went fine with Flashback 4.1. Same method as I used the last time, switching from Beasty + Clemsyn combo rom. No nvflashing. After the installation, there was an issue of not able to install from market. Applying the old market fix as suggested by UnsatisfiedMind at Slatedroid worked. PlantzVSZombies (several different versions) did not work, however.

This is a great Rom.

Dave

This is great, thanks!
