So, thanks to the invalueable help of Xeaueious, the E-X8 (8" RK2818) is now rooted.

Flash this image to your device, and use z4root to gain permanent root.

Use anycut to create shortcut to the Gallery.

Be advised, that the internal flash will be formatted after flashing.

Original firmware can be downloaded from here:

Tools required for flashing:

Install the drivers after putting the tablet in recovery mode (switch off the device, press and hold menu, then switch on while keeping menu button hold until windows recognizes the device).
After successfull installation, RKAndroidBatch will recognize the device when it's in recovery mode (in device upgrade area, the box with number 1 in it will light up green) - you can now select the desired image file, and start flashing.

I no longer have a working device, since mine got broken. Anyways, I don't even know if there exists a 2.2 build for the rk2818 at all.

Hi, Nightlord, I have a Moonse E-X8 and I tried to flash a rooted ROM to it so that I can turn this old device into a server (I thought it should be a good server because of its metal case for heat ventilation However, I tried different RK2818 ROM and the display not working. Finally I found your post but the link not working anymore. I hope you still have the ROM and can you share it with me?
