Samsung Galaxy tab charger... I thought switching from Mac got me away from this...

Is there a way to use other car/wall chargers? The Samsung ones are so bulky and I can't find them in Canada. I'm finding myself questioning why I didn't go Apple if I have to deal with all this proprietary nonsense...
