Screen Lock

I have a via 8650 android tablet I went in to security & put a pattern in to lock my screen but I have now forgoten it is there any
Way that I can find out or get rid of the pattern. I am new to the android but can find my way around ok.

AFAIK Android 2.3 has a feature to reset it if you try many times in a row and fail.

I have tried eveything to unlock the security pattern but I have not been able to unlock the pattern. I decided to do a factory reset but need the pattern to do so is there anyway I can do a reset without having to enter the security pattern. Again many thanks for all your help.

Thanks for everybodys help over the last 3-4 days but I have now sorted things out. After 3 days of putting different combinations of patterns in last night I found the correct one and turned the screen lock off. I did try all the above ideas but with no luck & it looks Like I still have a lot to learn about the Andriod system. Again many thanks for everybodys help & I now know where to come when I have another problem.
