Screen won't respond periodically?

I'm having a very frustrating problem with my S7. When it boots up, maybe 75% of the time the screen won't respond. The information (top-right) icon flashes but I can't tap it to open it; no other screen actions respond. And then, every now and then, everything works perfectly. I can't reliably replicate it, which makes troubleshooting all the more frustrating.

I think it *may* have to do with letting programs automatically update. I think they are hijacking my S7 and when the Market locks up everything stops working.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

What rom do you have? It happened to me with the indonesian rom. I have a S7-101.
