The future of wireless Internet speeds is coming, and its performance is astonishing! Earlier in the year we shared a story with you guys about LTE Advanced technology being demonstrated in Seoul, Korean, to the tune of 600 Mbps. The new tech was recently displayed by Ericsson, in Kista, Sweden, and they were able to hit peaks of 900 Mbps! This technology, which is roughly 10 times the performance of current LTE tech, uses carrier aggregation and extended multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) functionality to achieve these amazing results. In a nutshell, it basically combines together sections of the spectrum to create a fatter data pipe.
Advanced LTE is expected to begin commercial operations in 2013, although it might be a couple of years before we see it available in our neighborhoods.
