Sideloading NON B&N APPS Question

Bought a Nook Tablet last week, had one of the cheap RiteAId Craig tablets which I returned but glad I had to learn on.
My question is the Nook has a micro usb port. If I go on the android market webpage an download apps that are NOT avaialble on the B&N app store can I side load them into the Nook?
