Speakers hissing

Anyone have a hissing sound coming out of the speakers when the Pad is on standby? It also hisses when the headphones are in. Any ideas?

known long term hardware compatibility issue

many are attempting to have an on/off switch that turns off the speakers rather than simply mutes them

at present they keep running despite the sound being off causing a white noise hiss all the time but without a hardware switch to stop power to them and no real way to code a way to turn them off due to the pad constantly requesting beeps and other alert noises from them it is something we simply have to live with at this time.

annoyingly this is one of the bigger constant power drains that plague both android tablets and android phones.
